Three Squares...

The first one is for Jenni. It includes an indigo dyed fabric background with some commercial fabric strips. A piece of painted and zapped Tyvek with beads. Hand made paper beads and machine stitch. Her chosen colours were blue and burnt orange.
The second square is for Debbie. Her colours were russet and olive green. I found the russet difficult to pin down so hope this will be satisfactory. I have pieced together mostly commercial fabrics and used florists wrap as the main decoration. I heated this with an iron so it would bubble and shrink. I like the effect and will use this again. There is a mixture of hand and machine stitch on this piece.

The final piece is for myself. I chose lime green and orange as my colours. Probably a nightmare combination for the rest of the group who go for more subtle colours! I like to be different. My background is green felt with two abstract scraps of an African inspired fabric and some orange strips. It also includes two small pieces of Tyvek that are the lighter weight fabric type and have been painted and zapped. Hand stitch and buttons complete the piece.

The idea of doing these squares started during lockdown when we couldn’t see each other. It has been a joy to carry the idea on and these are the last of my pieces for this third batch of squares. May be a book will come out of them for each of us but will this be the last collection? Who knows?
Thanks for showing interest in our work Rosemary.
