American Indians, Nature, Astrology, Garden Pests and The English Countryside...

We had a super meeting in November sharing ideas for our next theme, The Written Word. Some of us had too many ideas and some of us found it hard to pick one and stick to it. However, as always the point of belonging to a group is to share thoughts and gain inspirations and views from fellow members. We talked about a wide range of themes from - messages, poetry, Beatrice Potter's nature, graffiti fonts, historic novels plus various other topics. Hopefully by the time we meet in the new year we'll have cemented some ideas to share with you.

We also continued to share and work on our Altered Books project, these books are getting more interesting and growing fatter with each alteration. You can see from the title of this post just a few of the subjects we have to tackle.

Here are our snaps to share with you...

As you can see we're getting carried away and completing more than one page each month.

Until next time, Wishing you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from all the Maids. Thanks for joining us throughout the year.

New Theme & Altered Books...

As I mentioned in a previous post we have been thinking about our next theme. We've come up with a very exciting title - The Written Word. We've started talking through our ideas, but decided to have a little down time after our two exhibitions and enjoy working through our altered books project.

Below are a few snap to share with you...

The added bonus was the beautiful sunshine, well, once the storm had blown through.

Our charity was in aid of Cancer Research UK in memory of our friend Margaret Garrood, we raised a grand total of £812.80.

Hope you enjoyed seeing our exhibition snaps, we're meeting tomorrow so I should be back soon.

Altered Books and our next Venue...

Our September meeting was a very creative affair. After perusing our altered books from last month, we exchanged titles and started altering the pages with paint, print, stitch and textiles.

Below you will see pages from our returned books...

As you can see we are all thoroughly enjoying this project, completing more than one page.

Tomorrow we are off to install our chainREACTION Exhibition in the Blanchminster Room, The Castle, Bude 10th-16th October 10am-4pm. It's such a lovely venue with a super cafe and it's free. If you're in the area please pop in and say hello, we all love to talk about textiles.

Hope you enjoyed seeing the snaps of our altered books, back soon.
