One down, one to go...

We had a fantastic response to our chainREACTION exhibition at the Poly Falmouth, with well over 700 visitors. Many were fellow stitching enthusiasts, but equally we had artists and students who were inspired by the diverse techniques and subjects we covered. I'm looking forward to reading the comments in our visitors book.

A very good friend to Textile Maids took amazing photo's of our work. Roger has been a great supporter and has photographed all our exhibitions. Here is the link to share his photo's with you

We have a little breather now before we open in the Blanchminster Room, Bude Castle 10th-16th October. I say a breather, but we have a meeting next week with thoughts on our next project. It's always exciting to start a new project, I'll be sure to let you know the outcome.

Hope you enjoy the photo's, back soon

Exhibition count down...

Can you believe it, we hang our exhibition on Monday, then we open Tuesday until Saturday. Everything is ready, we've ticked all the boxes, now it's down to each one of us to pack, try to remember the little extras and stay calm. I have to admit to being a little excited.

After all the final arrangements had been talked through we started a little side project.
Below you will see a neat pile of second hand books, we will work on a page or two a month and then pass to the next Maid. These altered books will become a place to experiment without the pressure to produce a piece of work...

With such a diverse range to explore it should be great fun to challenge ourselves each month to a different topic. I look forward to showing how these pages have changed next month.

I'll make sure to pack my camera so I can share a few snaps from our exhibition next time.

Thanks for reading, back soon.

Exhibition planning on track...

Dare I say it, but we seem to be fairly well organised for our exhibition, which is just over a month away. Our July meeting was spent planning our wall lay out, checking the stewarding rota, personal statements for our leaflet and labels for our work. All very successfully achieved by a super group of Maids.

Here are just a few works in progress to share with you...

Liz - 'Fragility'

Margaret - 'Unrestricted'

Jenni - 'Unrestricted'

Our meeting in August is for final preparations and a little pre-exhibition celebration with a potluck lunch to share. And...probably a lot of conversation about our next theme.

Fragility - Containment - Unrestricted...

I'm a little later than usual with our blog, so I have to confess I've been enjoying the wonderful weather we're having here in Cornwall. Although the hot nights make sleeping difficult I wouldn't dream of complaining.

Here are a few detailed snaps from our June meeting to share with you...
