Exibition time...

Today was set-up day for the Trelyn Quilters which also happen to meet at Fraddon Village Hall.

Our charity this year is Newquay RNLI, so we decided to have a seaside themed corner, which was great fun to set-up with shells, buckets full of sand and seaweed still with feathers and shells entwined.

As you may know I do love to make anything which involves the sea and the beach, so I could indulge to my hearts content. Here are my pieces...

Not a very good photo with the reflections on the glass, but I had great pleasure in making them all.

I set a challenge to the members earlier in the year to make Prayer Flags and was very impressed when bags were unpacked to reveal this lovely selection...

Aren't they all wonderful!

"Little landscapes" workshop with Sheena Norquay

Dear all

I spent two days at the beginning of this week on a workshop with Sheena Norquay at Cowslip. (Jane Hawkins was there too, which was a nice surprise!)

I wasn't feeling very well, and consequently not in a very good mood, so I didn't enjoy myself as much as usual when I go to Cowslip - but she is great teacher and it was nothing to do with her!

I didn't feel I made the best fabric choices on the first day, but had to work with the decisions I had made. The grey flower/leaf shapes at the bottom and made using the trapunto technique - that was the first time I had done that!

So I thought you might like to see what I made - it just needs a narrow binding on now.

Pinetum Park & Pine Lodge Gardens

      Wow! I've done it. First ever blog. Great instructions Sue (plus help from Lizzie whilst waiting for the rain to stop).

        Well, what a wonderful day out we had on Wednesday and we must be a lovely lot as the sun shone all day! Weren't we lucky considering the awful summer we've all been experiencing.
We met for coffee, a relaxing stroll round the beautiful gardens (want to live in the Japanese garden)  then lunch, then more coffee and chat.

     The Pinetum Park is a hidden gem in Cornwall and one of the most beautiful, tranquil gardens I have visited in the county. Highly recommended so please go and support this piece of paradise. Make sure you take your camera and dogs on leads are very welcome.

A late July posting...

While I cool down after a spot of gardening, I thought I'd take the opportunity to post a few photos which Barbara took of last month's meeting...

We have a little jolly in August instead of meeting at the hall. This time we've chosen The Pinetum Park and Pine Lodge Gardens in St Austell. Armed with cameras and sketchbooks we want to gain some inspiration for a small body of work to show along side our existing projects. Hopefully we'll have a gorgeous sunny day like today and have some photos of the gardens to show you in the next post.

June Meeting and Exhibition News...

We had a very inspiring show and tell at our last meeting, showing how our Cornwall theme is knitting together nicely. You will see from the snaps below there was a great variety of techniques being used...painting fabrics, hand stitching, machine stitching, wet felting, machine felting, book making and beading...

I think we have a super range of topics to show at our next exhibition.

Talking of which, we are very excited to announce that we have set the date and booked our 2016 Exhibition venue which will be held from the 12th to 19th September at The Spring Gallery,
The Poly, Falmouth.
It may seem a long way off and I'm sure we'll be mentioning it again but pop it into your diary now, please tell anyone you think may be interested and hopefully this exhibition will be as successful as our last one.

Now, the sun is calling me so I'm off to enjoy my garden with a little paper piecing, what could be better. Hope you're enjoying the sunshine too and thanks for taking the time to join us here.
